A jet ferrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an unscheduled landing in the UK on Wednesday due to a fissure was identified in the plane's windshield, per an announcement which stated that all passengers were secure.
"The plane landed based on standard procedures and all individuals on the flight, such as Pete Hegseth, is safe," a press officer said in a online announcement.
The secretary was coming back from a short visit to Brussels when the incident occurred.
This occurrence is not the initial instance that a US military aircraft transporting a top government figure has suffered mechanical issues.
Earlier this year, a US Air Force plane transporting Marco Rubio to the city in Germany was compelled to turn back to the US capital after suffering a mechanical problem.
